Congratulations to the 2021-22 Mini-Grant Winners!

(Announced August 18, 2021)

Stay tuned for the 2022-23 application round.

June 2021

TK-8 Certificated Staff:

The Garvey Education Foundation (GEF) Board realizes that the 2020-21 school year has been a psychological and educational challenge for students, parents, teachers, and school staffs alike. As we welcome the new school year, we realize that there will be many areas of student needs that require our collaborative efforts to understand and to address.

In order to assist the Garvey staff in surmounting the challenges of opening their classrooms in the Fall, the GEF Board is pleased to announce that mini-grants will be awarded to individual or groups of certificated staff who design activities that will help our students adjust to the classroom and school “climate”, such as reconnecting with peers in academic and social group activities, reengaging in rigorous learning, rebuilding relationships with staff, and…rejuvenating the “LEADER in ME.” We encourage staff to work in collaboration to design and implement these innovative ideas to provide all students with an engaging and exciting start to the 2021-2022 school year.

These grants will be up to $400 and will be issued on a competitive basis.  Applying for the mini-grant is a simple task.  Just follow the guidelines below and remember when the application is due.  Your class might just be the lucky recipient of a mini-grant!

  1. You must be a current certificated staff in the Garvey School District and your activity/project must be completed during school calendar year 2021-22 and can cover costs retroactively before the start of the school year.

  2. Write a short narrative (not to exceed 250 words) describing the activity/project in which you wish your students to participate. Remember to include your name, school, and grade level.

  3. Describe how this activity/project connects to one or more of the Foundation’s goals (page 2) and how it will help your students acclimate to returning to school in your classroom.

  4. Please include an itemized budget for your project or activity in your application. Applications will not be considered if a budget is not included.

  5. If your application is selected, you will be notified before the start of the school year. The mini-grant award will be presented at the District Orientation on August 18, 2021.

  7. APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 30, 2021 by 5:00 p.m.

  8. Submit your application by E-mail to or via District mail to the Garvey Education Foundation c/o Superintendent’s Office or by fax to (626)307-1964.
