On Patriots Day, Principal Denise Williams and the Dewey Dolphins remember the first responders on September 11 as well as the first responders who continue to put their lives on the line to help people in need today. On behalf of the San Gabriel Police Department, Officer Puente received a certificate of appreciation.

hi Julie dolphin this is mrs. Williams your principal and I just want to share with you that I'm September 11th 2001 it was a sad day for our country many people were injured in Sally last year it was First Responders fireman police officers paramedics and even citizen Rush without any hesitation to help those in need we see an example of that today doctors and nurses rushed to help those in need to get well every year on September 11th it is recognized as National Patriot Day a day to remember those risked their lives to help those in me today Dewey Elementary would like to thank the San Gabriel Police Department so we would like to acknowledge the San Gabriel Police Department we're putting their life on the line everyday helping to protect our community and helping those in me so I'm behalf of Dooley Elementary I would like to thank you for the police department to accept this certificate it is acknowledging that we do we Elementary appreciate what they do to keep us safe in the time of me all right do we Dolphins this is Officer point a police officer for the city of San Gabriel and this is my partner canine Bentley he is they have certified police dogs and he's a Belgian Malinois German Shepherd he's a completely different breed is pretty big for his job is actually looking for run from the police and are a danger to the public that uses his nose to find them for it which makes our job a lot safer the other thing he does is he's trained to search for Narcotics which is illegal drugs on the street look for evidence to look for a cell phone is what makes him so great their noses are it seems like 1 million times greater than ours which I mean I can believe I can see he's pretty amazing as a lot of good work for us so we've been partnered up now for about three and a half years when I got him he was only 11 he'll probably work until he's about maybe 9 or 10 so it's it's a long- time for me here lately actually works for a paycheck in his paycheck is a toy so like me and I work for me is there any toy any ball or a building for a bad guy or drugs he doesn't get rewarded with a boss looking for bad guys it's more for a detection stuff for like looking for drugs feel like she want to work for this I also incorporate this in obedience and I can show you a couple days if he doesn't respond to commands in English is respond play different language cuz he wasn't even born here is born in Slovakia so just said give you a little sample that send me send logic and I can move away from it looks clear across the room as long as I give him the release man is when he comes to me as long as you were searching for bad guy and I need him to yeah he's got a very high high play drivers make some good for a his job any dog can do it as long as they have a very high play drive or progressivity bad guys so again this is a Bentley and he's going to be around for a while and every single day that we're at work but he's a great asset to the front
